I support returning control of our schools to local school boards and communities. Parents and local communities know the needs of their children better than a Washington-based bureaucrat, and local communities and states should establish instructional standards and assessments rather than the federal government through one-size-fits-all unfunded mandates.

Further, I support:

Scraping No Child Left Behind and its punitive mandates
Ending the federal obsession with high stakes tests that unfairly mischaracterizes students, teachers, and schools
Providing the funding needed to meet requirements established by the federal government

Hedrick family Bill Hedrick has spent his entire adult life teaching our children, advocating for teachers, and managing our schools. For over twenty years, he's served our community on the Corona-Norco school board. He and Beth have raised five children in our community - including two who have served in Iraq.
