Bill Hedrick for Congress

Bill Hedrick on Health Care

President Obama and Congress passed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act earlier this year. The passage of this bill was a step in the right direction - millions of people across the country and hundreds of thousands right here at home benefited from the bill.

There is still a lot of work left to do toward covering all Americans. It is a scandal that tens of millions of Americans remain uninsured, and that millions of American families are quite literally one major illness away from bankruptcy. When I am in Congress, I will fight for cost containment and for an insurance plan that will benefit families and taxpayers, rather than give more giveaways to the insurance companies.

Further, I support refining the recently adopted health insurance reform by:

  • Establishing the right of states to adopt single payer systems if they choose to do so
  • Creating a true public option to improve competition in the marketplace
  • Permitting the federal government to bargain for the lowest price for pharmaceuticals
  • Lowering the age of eligibility for Medicare
